Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Will my countdown keep running in the background?
Yes! Once you start the countdown, you can minimize your web browser, open a new tab, or do something else, and the countdown will keep running. We recommend copying the link before you switch to another task.
What happens if I close my browser?
If your countdown is live and you close the browser, the timer will stop. If you need to close it but want the countdown to keep running, click 'Get Sharable Link' and copy the link before closing.
How do I find my timezone?
First, figure out which timezone your region uses. Then click the dropdown menu and type your region’s timezone name into the search box, using the IANA database as a guide. If you’re not sure what your IANA timezone is, just search online for “List of tz database.” You can also leave the setting on Local Browser Time, and the countdown will automatically use your device’s time.
How accurate is this countdown clock?
Our countdown clock uses your device’s settings and the standard time zone to calculate time, so it’s very reliable for everyday use. However, for critical millisecond-level events, it’s best to double-check with official sources.
Can I make changes to an existing countdown?
Yes! You can update the live countdown timer any time. Just keep in mind that each time you make a change, a new sharing link will be generated. So be sure to copy the new link after you’ve made your edits.
Can I use this timer to boil eggs?
Our countdown clock is built for counting down to future dates, so it is not ideal as a kitchen timer. Instead, try our Custom Timer, where you can easily set it for 5, 7, or 10 minutes, just what you need for perfectly boiled eggs.
